Details

From your ship, a short boat trip will bring you to the port of Athinos. Board the catamaran and start your trip passing by Thirassia, Aspronissi and Akrotiri. Your first swimming and snorkeling stop will take place at the Red Beach. Continue sailing to the White beach for your second swimming stop. After a delicious BBQ lunch served on board, your catamaran continues sailing towards the thermal springs of Palea Kameni. The water temperature is about 35 degrees Celsius and contains a high content of sulfur, which is thought to have healing properties. Minerals in the water alter its color, which displays every hue from green to deep orange. The waters are quite shallow, but your boat will stop as close to the springs as possible for a photo opportunity. Weather permitting, anyone who wishes to go swimming can jump in and feel the water gradually changing temperature as you get closer to the ashore. View the Volcano and the Caldera before your return trip to the port. On arrival board your awaiting vehicle which will bring you to the island's capital, Thira, for leisure time.

Notes

Requirements & Restrictions: For safety reasons, guests with breathing difficulties may not participate on this excursion.

Good to Know: Swimwear may change color due to the sulfur water; wear a swimsuit and bring a towel. The smell of sulfur and heat can be strong while on the volcano. The return to the ship is by cable car from Fira Town to the port and then a water shuttle. The cable car is reached by a long walk across Fira upper town along narrow cobble-stoned streets with an incline and steps. Low heeled shoes are recommended and passengers with physical limitations are requested to take this into consideration. Passengers should also expect lines at the cable car; the wait can be in excess of 60 minutes if multiple ships are in port.
