A LIFE CELEBRATION will be held for John Thomas in San Antonio, Texas at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Three Streams Anglican Church 7295 Evans Road, San Antonio, Texas 78266.

John Thomas, 76 years old, of Portland, Texas, passed away on June 21, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas. John was born in Monterrey, Mexico to Albert and Rosa Thomas on February 9, 1948. He went to school at Carroll and Del Mar Community College. He married Linda Thomas on June 27, 1974 in Corpus Christi, Texas. John was a REALTOR® in the Coastal Bend area for many years. He founded Associated Brokers Group, REALTORS® in 1985. John received an Emeritus Award in honor of his years of loyalty, dedication, and outstanding service to the San Patricio County Association of REALTORS®.

He was a Marine veteran who served two tours in Vietnam. John was awarded the following: National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast, and Letter of Commendation. Various times throughout his life he was involved in the Rotary Club, Portland First Christian Church, and many REALTOR® organizations. He received the following awards with the San Patricio County Association of REALTORS®: Board of Directors’ service award 1978-1983,1993, 2003; REALTOR® of the year 1979; President for 1981; and nine years’ service as Director 1988. John was known for his salesmanship, financial and investment expertise, and his desire to help others whether they were clients or those he mentored. John’s interests included photography, cars, motorcycles and anything mechanical. He was involved in many car and motorcycle clubs and informal activities in the local area.

John Thomas is preceded in death by his father Albert Thomas, and mother Rosa Meilleur, and sister Lana Thomas.

John is survived by wife Linda Thomas, sister Diana Jones (Lance), brother Jeff Thomas (Cindy), brothers-in-law Terrell Austin, Gene Haisler, Al Haisler and sisters-in-law Susie Austin, Tabitha Haisler, Kay Haisler and Barbara Green, numerous nephews, nieces, and many, many close friends.

John was uplifted by prayers, support and visits from all of his family members, close friends, associates, church leaders, and church members throughout his illness. He also appreciated the care from his doctors, caretakers, and medical care teams in Corpus Christi, Houston, San Antonio, and New Braunfels.
