Aurora Kesseli is a fifth-year graduate student and is interested in low-mass stars and planets orbiting low-mass stars. Specifically, she studies the effects of metallicity, rotation, and magnetic activity on the radii of M-dwarf stars. Aurora recently was an IPAC Visiting Graduate Student Fellow and spent six months investigating extremely metal-poor stars in preparation for WFIRST’s exoplanet microlensing survey. Outside of research, Aurora is involved in outreach activities and is a co-leader of a Girls Science Club, aimed at exposing low-income elementary school girls to science, and also co-organizes a department-wide women in science group.
