Paramount-Skydance Complete Deal, Ellison to Be CEO

David Ellison’s agreement to acquire Paramount Global owes much to the negotiating skills of investor Gerry Cardinale, his partner in the deal.

The former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. banker helped lead the talks between Ellison’s Skydance Media, Paramount’s board and its controlling shareholders, the Redstone family, resulting in Sunday’s merger announcement. Ellison, a 41-year-old film producer, is set to take control of the media giant that owns the CBS TV network and the Paramount Pictures film studio.
