The term “ball security” was thrown around like a hot potato this week in Foxborough after rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas fumbled against the Dolphins and was subsequently benched for the mistake.
Following their win on Sunday over the Jets, Patriots tight end Hunter Henry credited ball security as one of their keys to victory:
“Ball security was huge yesterday,” Henry told WEEI’s Gresh and Fauria on Monday. “Just looking the ball in and making sure even when you have it, you know – wet ball, everything, like slick jersey. It’s tough in those conditions. To do that, in those conditions, and we haven’t had good ball security in the first two games. To finally do that, in those conditions, it was big for us.”

New England also ran the ball efficiently on Sunday to the tune of 157 yards - something the guys pointed out to the Patriots captain:
“We did,” Henry responded.” Wish we would have finished a little better and ended with the ball in our hands and not put ourselves in the situation at the end.”
The Jets had a chance at a Hail Mary try as time expirec, but the ball fell just short of wide receiver Randall Cobb's hands and resulted in a 15-10 win for New England.
