How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

This is a sweet book with some slightly dated and gendered advice. I heard about it on This American Life and so I decided to order it. It can be a good way to gently approach tough subjects with your partner. I went through the entire book and stared the entries I thought were relevant for me and it was helpful to see what category the majority of the chapters feel into.

I agree with the first reviewer that this book is skewed towards woman to spouse communication. I 'winced' when I read the line about the book being 'hopelessly sexist.' The reviewer may be a better communicator than someone who will be helped by this book.
I can understand how difficult it is to start a non-threatening, non-judgmental conversation - or any conversation - about some of these topics. Especially for long-term couples. Even in 2012, there are people in relationships who take on very traditional roles, even if they are progressive in other areas of life. Self-help is a broad genre simply because different people need different help - at different times - in different ways.
I think this book is helpful to those who are hesitant to bring up a painful, difficult or controversial topic in their relationship. It's very practical - you choose the topic and the specific request. Like a dictionary, index or encyclopedia - you turn to the section you require, rather than reading it cover to cover.
It all starts with opening up a dialog.
