Not compatible with Amazon Fire TV
I just purchased a. AMAZON Fire TV QLED 55in and cannot install the Acorn App. I've been using the app in my Cube and Stick but can't on the smart TV. I even tried thru the Amazon site and it doesn't show my TV as a delivery target. Get this working please asap or I may be forced to cancel my acorn tv subscription.

Acorn TV is wonderful, great British shows. If you see poor reviews of the Acorn app, they are probably old reviews. Nowadays this app works great, so I have scrapped my old review and here is my new one. What is a little bit unusual is that there are two completely different ways to access Acorn TV in Amazon Prime:

1. Start off in Amazon Prime using your firestick, and go to the Amazon Prime "channels" and sign up for Acorn TV. You will be using a "channel" to watch Acorn. You will NOT download this app.

2. The alternative method will use this app on the firestick. But first create an Acorn account on your computer or tablet or phone by going to the website (acorn dot tv) and starting a new subscription. In other words don't go yet into Amazon Prime using the firestick. Just use your favorite browser on your favorite device to go directly to the Acorn website. Set up a subscription, then go into Amazon Prime using your firestick. Download and open the app, and log in (first time only). Then start watching.

Depending on the approach you use above, the layout will look a little different. Also if you mark a show as a Favorite using the app, you will have a Favorites list within the Acorn app. If you mark a show as a Favorite in the channel, the show will be part of the overall list of Amazon Prime favorites.

The biggest difference in methods is that using the app also allows you to go to the website directly, outside of Amazon Prime. You can use your computer or other device to log into the website, browse all the programs, select favorites, etc. When later you use your firestick to select the app, all your favorites will be there. (And you can still select or deselect favorites directly in the app.)

Personally I find using the app much easier than using the channel. But whichever you start with, you can switch to the other by canceling the one service and starting the other.

PS - Whichever service you choose, you need to know what the icon looks like.
If you want to select the icon for the Acorn app, the icon will say ACORN TV with "TV" on a red background. If the icon is only black and white, it is the icon for the Acorn "channel".

PPS - Britbox has the same issues, and you can start your service with the app or with the channel.

I love Acorn TV, but there isn't an app for it on the Amazon Fire Tablet, and watching it online in the tablet is problematic. There isn't an app store, but there is one on Amazon, as a download. I downloaded it on my AZ Fire Tablet and synced my tablet, but it still doesn't show in my apps list.

Acorn TV has a lot of great shows. Too bad they are all but unwatchable. We have the fastest internet service available in our area, and all of our other streaming subscriptions, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO, etc, work close to flawlessly when it comes to the quality of the image and the uninterrupted delivery of the content. Not so with Acorn TV. We have an Amazon Fire TV device (the big one, not the stick), and the Acorn TV app on it is appallingly bad, even after its recent user interface redesign. The image quality is constantly poor throughout every show. It is very grainy, blurry, and offensive to the eyes. The menu system also has major issues. For example, try watching the Murdoch Mysteries, and good luck to you when you get to Season 2, because every episode of Season 2 plays the same episode from Season 1. And then there's the swirling drain icon. Get used to seeing that. So we switched to a Chromecast device just for Acorn, and have tried streaming from a high end Google Pixel smart phone. The image quality is much better with that, but multiply the instances of the swirling drain icon by a factor of 10 compared to the Fire TV, and a 45 minute episode of Murdoch takes about an hour to get through. And it never remembers the last show you watched. I have to write it down in a spreadsheet so I can track which episode is next. I've written to Acorn TV tech support as well, and received the digital equivalent of lip service in the form of a boilerplate response that in essence tells you to contact tech support again if you are still experiencing the issue. What a classic blow-off. It's really a shame that Acorn has collected such a great catalog, but they can't deliver it, at least not to our house. TV time is supposed to be relaxing and fun, but trying to carve through a show on Acorn TV aggravates me as much as if I'm still at work! So we're saying "bollocks" and "cheerio" to Acorn TV.

Love the station, Amazon delivery of service, not so much. I have only had Acorn service for a month, Acorn stopped working a few times the link between amazon & acorn wouldnt connect. Had to go thru clear all apps from fireTV and reset.
Then I got my credit card bill and all amazon puts on the statement is amazon digital, I went to amazon to find out what the charge was for, i went thru my orders, digital orders, subscriptions, videos, and a couple of other links, nothing was showing up. Now I'm getting pissed. I went to my charge card website clicked on the order number there and this showed Amazon/AcornTV receipt. I was still unable to get to an area where i could cancel my subscription, had to go back to charge card website clicked on another link which was a broken link, went back again clicked another link and was finally at a page where I could cancel my subscription. I'll order this again thru AcornTV directly. Amazon really sucks sometimes.

When I first added this channel it worked pretty good but now at the end of 1 year of service on my Fire TV it will not play, stops to buffer constantly and sometimes when I click on a show it just kicks me out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't carry all episodes: poorly organized

Don't carry all seasons of some shows despite showing they exist. " not available" is the message WHEN you click on them. Imagine buying a story but you only get the first 3 chapters. ..

Some great programs but we weren't interested enough to continue after free trial period. Spent lots of time trying to cancel the subscription but the channel didnt appear anywhere the instructions said it would be and I've just been charged for the first month!

How come everything is so easy with amazon but there isn't a big cancel this subscription button I wonder. It almost seems deliberate.
