No more ice cubes slithering across your counter or floor and no more sloshing a just-filled ice cube tray on your way to the fridge--Oxo has come to the rescue with this nifty, easy-release tray with a sliding lid. Just fill the tray with water, slide the lid on, and slip the tray into the freezer. The lid design allows you to stack more trays or other items on top: a great space-saving feature. To dispense the ice cubes, slide the lid in either direction until the desired number of cubes are exposed, then flip the tray over to release the cubes. The clever lid design lets you release a single cube or a dozen, and both tray and lid have a solid feel, with just the right amount of give. Sliding the lid on a just-filled tray, however, takes a little practice (the lid sticks a bit), but placing the tray on a firm surface and sliding evenly and firmly should do the trick. --C. This makes a good, but expensive, ice cube tray but as it has 14 sections, it excels as container for daily vitamins. Those little boxes in the drug store are crazy expensive and really don't take the amount of supplements that I like. And, stackable!

Ok, so I feel really silly writing a review raving about how amazing these Oxo Goodgrips Covered Ice Cube Trays are, but you guys!!! If you've ever struggled with regular trays, you know how they crack, how messy they are, how the ice cubes sometimes lose volume or gain volume while freezing, and often get stuck in the trays no matter how much twisting and banging you do to get them out. Amirite? You know I am. But these....holy canolies....they have an oval/rounded bottom and they pop right out! The plastic is super rigid so I don't foresee them breaking easily, and the cover is just a genius move all around. It keeps the ice from getting freezer odor/flavor, keeps the ice volume consistent, and it also allows for stable stacking without the trays sticking together. So I guess what I'm saying is, if you are tired of having a knockdown dragout with your old ice cube trays and are sick of ice flying all over your kitchen and subsequently melting on the floor only for your socked feet to step in later...get these. They are amazing.

I can't believe I've never invested in covered ice cube trays before! I'll certainly never buy an ice cube tray that isn't covered again.

I love the shape of the ice cubes these make. They're rounded on the bottom, which makes them really easy to scoop out two at a time. Something about the shape also minimizes internal cracking and imperfections in the ice, and often times they come out crystal clear and gorgeous!

I've owned a pair of these for a few months now, and they seem durable. No sign of cracking or wear. The curved underside of the cubes release easily, so you don't have to twist and turn it very hard to get them to release.

Two tips for use:
1: Don't fill them too full. Pour a little out until the water is just bubbling up above the edges with surface tension, but not linked together.
2: Let them thaw after emptying them, before refilling. Refilling right away will prevent the crystal clear look of the ice, and makes the lid harder to get off once it's frozen.

These trays are great. They have all the features that ice cube trays should have: they have covers that are easy to remove (you slide them, rather than pull them up, to take them off), they're great for stacking, popping the ice cubes out is a breeze, and because the entire thing is plastic it's easy to wash (and dishwasher safe).

As other reviewers have noted, the lids are not airtight and water may spill out the sides a bit if you don't keep the tray level, but as long as you keep the trays right side up between filling them and putting them in the freezer, it's really not a problem (this is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). I've also seen reviewers say that the lids are hard to manage, but I have had no problems at all with the lids and have found them very ease to use every time. At $5 for a set of two, I've already gotten more than my money's worth from these trays. Definitely recommend.

I grow a lot of herbs in my garden and each winter most of them die back in cold weather. Rather than resort to having to buy fresh herbs on an on-going basis, I like to freeze mine (in a small amount of water or olive oil and then keep them in a zip bag in the freezer for when I need them. I also like to get large bags of lemons, juice them and then freeze the juice for cooking use later.

These freezer trays are perfect for my use. The cubes are on the smaller side but just right for my needs. The trays have a lid, so I can stack them in the freezer without taking up all the room to lay out four of these at one time.

These might be on the small side for freezing baby food but for herbs and such, they are great.

I love ice, I use a ton of it every day. We have a very small freezer and I have bought many ice trays over the years. Sooner or later they all explode while trying to twist the ice out or they crack, leak, nothing comes out or only 2 cubes.i want all the ice out of 2 trays for my ice tea.
So, I see this ice tray on Amazon and Order 2 then keep my fingers crossed.
The first great sign was that the ice froze fast, then with very little effort on my part all the cubes happily fell into my huge ice tea glass. The lids stop spilling water, you can just take a few cubes out if you want. Nothing falls into the ice like a rogue green pea falling out of the bag. It seems to keep weird tastes out as well. Sometimes the top has lots of frozen ice on the underside but it is easy to scrap off.

I want to order 10 of them so I never have to be without these great ice trays. I think they are the best ice trays ever made. I just cannot understand the complaints people have against them. I LOVE these ICE TRAYS!

We bought these because the wife was not happy with silicone ice trays. They were too hard to release the cubes and cold on her fingers to push them out from the bottom. These work great and the tray top is perfect to stack two in our bottom mount freezer. The cubes are nice and big, comparable to the ones that came out of our ice maker when it worked, compared to the silicone ones which were less than half the size. The shape is nice with a rounded bottom and not sure if that or the material but the cubes just come out. There is no issues at all would definitely buy again.

Perfect. I really like the design. It's not like other ice cube trays where the ice is shaped into squares; this one has a curved shape which allows the ice to slip right off. I don't have to buy bagged ice anymore and instead fill this up a few times a week. Sometimes I'll put leftover coffee in and freeze it to use it in my iced coffee - no more diluted coffee! Other times if I'm making banana icecream or something and need it to freeze quicker, I'll put the mixture into here and it'll freeze completely it in 2-5 hours. There's a cover that slides right on and doesn't get stuck to the bottom when you stick it in the freezer. It really covers the cubes from getting that weird freezer smell. Overall really sleek design, small and convenient, and easy to use.

I bought two of these because I like the idea of the cover protecting the ice cubes from spills in the freezer. These don't disappoint and the covers perform as expected. I find the ice even looks a little less cloudy, even though I'm using the same water. The covers slide on and off easily, and the ice cubes pop out without much effort.

A few very minor things to be aware of: 1. The handles on the tray and cover do take up a little more space in the freezer than my old trays (I'm willing to sacrifice the space for the added convenience and protection offered by the covers). 2. The covers aren't water tight so they don't prevent spilled water when putting the fresh trays in the freezer.
