So so boring

It’s a trap!•I did it again. I was lulled into a false sense of security by a Pride and Prejudice tag line. These books inspired by my favorite book are my kryptonite (that’s right a Star Wars AND Superman reference in the same post) and they almost always destroy my hope for storytelling.•Mr. and Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy begins after the events of Pride and Prejudice and continue for a very boring year of....nothing. This book could have been written about my first year of marriage but without my hilarious antics and my husband’s eye rolls at said antics. What I mean is, since I’m not in an adventure, rom com, mystery, or fantasy novel, my life wouldn’t make a good story. Neither does the Darcy’s marriage. It’s just normal and I don’t care.•What would you rather read, boring or poorly written?•Clean rating: 🧼🧼 for lots of scenes of the couple “discovering” sex, from consummation of their marriage to the many times after when they are having sex because there is literally nothing else happening in their lives.•

Sharon Lathan wrote this series especially this first novel based off on the Pride and Prejudice movie that came out in 2005. If you are a fan of the movie then these books are great! I do believe that she did experience more and more “Jane Austin” authors and Regency Age advice in her later books. I wish she would have considered the advice and still kept to what she wanted to write! You can see changes in details especially in the last two books she wrote which are Prequels to this one! In the original second book of this series, she writes that Charles Bingley went to Oxford and met a grieving Darcy a few years before the movie/book material happened. That Darcy had a positive impact upon the younger Bingley in way of estate management and the kind of man he wanted to be! At the time Bingley was a unfocus student and person but after he became a friend to Darcy he became more focused on his studies especially in estate management. Then in her last two books, the prequels, she has Bingley attending Cambridge the same “college” that Darcy attended and through that commonality Bingley and Darcy meet. As you can tell, this book and the rest it the series are my favorite series of Elizabeth and Darcy books. I really love this series due to that although the primary focus is on Elizabeth and Darcy, she builds on other characters too. Each book besides this one offers something different and builds relationships with and for the other characters in the original Jane Austin book! I have to say I do not agree with others who have reviewed this book or maybe series. This series is the most treasured series of books of what could/should have happened that I have read. I have to say read them to find out for yourself! That is if you can still find a copy still in print!

I really like P&P, so after recently reading Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, I decided to look for other P&P related stories and came across this one. Out of curiosity I decided to go ahead and read Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One despite the large number of negative reviews.

On the plus side, I found it to be an extremely easy read and I completed it over the course of two evenings. I definitely thought that the plot was a bit lacking...and that the profusion of endearments back and forth between Lizzy and Darcy were a bit much even for the most hard-core romance novel fan (which I am not...I found it quite annoying after awhile). With that said, as a P&P fan I like the characters and I am intrigued by P&P related novels which satisfy the curiosity of "what might have happened next" or "what if things had been different". I wouldn't say this is a great book by any stretch, but I did purchase the next book in the series after finishing....so it wasn't that bad either.

The writer is clear about the fact that this book is based on the 2005 movie & not the novel, so for those people who go into reading this expecting it to in any way compare to the original will be greatly disappointed. Some reviewers compared it to a Harlequin Romance Novel, and honestly I may have liked it more if it were because at least I would have had a better idea of what to expect.

All in all, I give this book 4 stars (instead of 3, which was my initial inclination) because I do care enough about the story to continue reading despite its faults.

We are all aware of the many Jane Austen “sequels”. I’d rather ignored them. Happily, one of Sharon Lathen’s books showed up in a email of special deals one day.

I started the first volume with some doubt but was quickly drawn in and entranced. She is not Austen, but she has further developed the characters to where one thinks they may have gone had Austen revisited their story.

There are 5 main hooks on Elizabeth and Darcy, with 2 pre-wedding volumes. Then there is a Christmas through the years sort of book. After that there is book on Georgiana and one on Darcy’s uncle, who spent ma y years as a physician in India.

Don’t be a snob; just try one. The author spins lovely, believable stories as she further draws the two main characters and the remarkable relationship they have for their time in history.

I seldom write reviews and never fawn. I fell I love with the characters all over again and recommend you try one of the books. I recommend reading them in order, but I actually found the two-volume prequel after I’d read the main five. No matter.

These are enjoyable reads and I wish I weren’t at the end of the books. Thank you, Sharon Lathen.

I read this book over a year ago and forgot to write a review. So now I have re-read the book so I wouldn't make up something that wasn't there or if I could not remember correctly. I have to disagree with a few people that said this novel wasn't good. It was not written to be the same as Jane Austen's novels. It is a variation and should be judged by the way the author tells the story.
First of all, it is a love story of two young people who never were really in love with anyone else: second of all, it brings out the best of what two different personalities has to offer to better their partners; thirdly, I think the sexual experience that they shared was through experimentation and lust for each other. I think Sharon Lathan explained that quite well. This is pretty much of what is in today's world.
Imagine going from being relatively middle class to upper class and having to adjust to living with the rich. That is what Lizzy basically had to do & she did it gracefully with her charming, witty, and well versed self charming the upper crust!
She was well liked and even by the villian Orman that caused so much havoc in this novel.
It was well written explaining what I have stated and it really wasn't a bad read. Thanks and I will continue to re-read her next novels so I can write reviews for them.

Warning: this book -- and apparently this series -- is FULL of intimate scenes. I was not ready for that aspect of an Austenesque book. But the overall depth of love between Darcy and Elizabeth is a beautiful thing, indeed.

As sequels go thus is vastly better than the one other that I've read (and promptly dumped after suffering through 3 chapters of absolute trash), but could still be better. While Lizzy and Darcy are somewhat close to Jane Austen's novel some aspects of the courtship seem too over the top for the time that it is set in.
