UW awarded $50M to lead U.S. research security center
Under a five-year, $50 million investment from the U.S. National Science Foundation, UW Professor Mark Haselkorn is leading a national consortium of research institutions to bolster national research security. The Safeguarding the Entire Community of the U.S. Research Ecosystem (SECURE) Center will empower the U.S. research community to address critical issues of research security and integrity.
17 UW rowing alumni headed to Paris for 2024 Games
There may be no more rich tradition when it comes to Washington athletics than the Huskies’ Olympics rowing history. Dating back to “The Boys in the Boat” – the UW men’s crew that brought home a gold medal from the 1936 Berlin Games – Washington men and women have established a long track record of successes in the Olympics.
Wildfires increasingly threaten oil and gas drill sites
More than 100,000 oil and gas wells across the western U.S. are in areas wildfires have burned in recent decades, according to a new study by researchers from the UW and seven other institutions.
