Sheriff: Man punched, pregnant woman bit by suspect in road rage assault

GRAND TRAVERS COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 39-year-old Garfield Township man is behind bars on assault charges after attacking another driver and his pregnant passenger, according to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to S. Airport and Lafranier road Sunday after multiple witnesses called dispatch about the assault.

Investigators determined the attack was started due to road rage.

Witnesses told deputies the suspect got out of his vehicle at a stop light and started punching a man in another car multiple times in the face and back of the head, according to the report.

The 25-year-old female victim from Fife Lake, attempted to separate the two men and was bitten by the suspect on her arm.

Deputies said the 22-year-old male victim from Fife Lake had swollen areas over his eyes, back of the head and an injury to his nose.

The suspected wasn't injured according to the report.
