Trio of Mocktails

If you’re looking for a refreshing, flavorful drink but aren’t ready for alcohol, enjoy seasonal sip inspiration from the Main House that you can enjoy any time of day.

Cran & Tonic
2 oz. pear simple syrup*
1 ½ oz. cranberry juice
¼ oz. lime juice

Add all ingredients into a shaker, and shake to mix.
Pour into your glass over ice, and top with tonic.
Garnish with a rosemary sprig and a frozen cranberry.

*For the Pear Simple Syrup:
4 pears
4 cups sugar
1 cup lemon
Boiling water

Cut the pears into small pieces. Put the pieces into a blender with the lemon and 1 cup of water. Blend, and strain in large-hole strainer. Divide into two 2-quart containers. Add 2 cups of sugar to each container, and top with boiling water. Stir until dissolved to create your simple syrup. Store in the refrigerator.


Garden Day
2 oz. garden simple syrup*
1 oz. lime

Shake ingredients with ice in a shaker tin and strain into a coupe glass.
Top with club soda and garnish with a Johnny Jump Up flower.

*Garden Simple Syrup
1 cup edible flowers (such as Johnny Jump Ups)
¼ cup lavender
4 cups sugar
2 cups mixed fresh herbs (rosemary, mint, thyme, sage, etc.)
Boiling water

Muddle all items together in 2 cups of boiling water. Strain your muddled mixture through cheesecloth (or an equivalent that will give you a fine strain). Divide the liquid into two 2- quart containers, and add 2 cups of sugar to each. Top with boiling water, and stir until dissolved to create your simple syrup. Store in the refrigerator.

*Note: You can experiment with the flavor of this simple syrup by using different edible flowers and herbs. It’s a fun way to enjoy different seasonal flavor nuances.


Citrus Fizz
1 ½ oz. kumquat thyme simple syrup*
1 oz. lime juice

Shake ingredients with ice in a shaker tin, and strain over new ice into a rocks glass.
Top with ginger beer, and garnish with kumquat wheels and orange/thyme zest.

*Citrus Fizz Simple Syrup
1 quart kumquats
Handful of thyme
4 cups sugar
Boiling water

Blend kumquats and thyme in 3 cups of water. Strain through cheesecloth (or an equivalent that will give you a fine strain). Divide the liquid into two 2-quart containers, and add 2 cups of sugar to each. Top with boiling water, and stir until dissolved to create your simple syrup. Store in the refrigerator.
