The SPSP Fundraising and Development Committee is excited to announce that Mark Snyder is the latest prominent psychologist to be added to SPSP’s Heritage Wall. Dr. Snyder is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Minnesota, where he holds the McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Psychology and is the Director of the Center for the Study of the Individual and Society.

Over the past five decades, Dr. Snyder has made tremendous contributions to the field of personality and social psychology. His research examines the motivational foundation of individual and collective action, with particular emphasis on the psychology of self and identity, dynamics of social interaction, and processes of social action.

Beyond research, Dr. Snyder has served as a trusted mentor to many doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars who have gone on to pursue distinguished careers in both academic and non-academic settings.

Learn more about Dr. Snyder on his Heritage Wall page, where we have detailed their work and featured tributes from their friends and colleagues. We would also like to thank Dr. Snyder’s colleagues and students, who have made this installation possible through their generous donations.

The Heritage Fund Initiative was instituted to honor the legacy of our field's most important scholars, by providing a link between generations in personality and social psychology. Funds raised to honor the members of the Heritage Wall of Fame are used to support the Heritage Dissertation Research Award.

Additional donations to the Heritage program can be made here. Please indicate in the comment box which scholar (if any) your donation is intended to honor.

Please note that you can still celebrate scholars who have been added to SPSP's Heritage Wall with a donation to the Heritage Initiative! For more information, visit our Heritage Wall donation page. Please indicate in the comment box which scholar (if any) your donation is intended to honor. Once your donation is processed, you can submit a tribute that will appear on our website, serving as a lasting testament to the honoree's contributions and impact on personality and social psychology.

If you have a scholar you believe would be appropriate to honor on the Heritage Wall and are willing to champion the fundraising campaign, please contact the Fundraising Committee Co-Chairs, Michael Bernstein and Ying Tang with the individual's name, and a short description of why you believe they deserve Heritage Wall status.
