Rapid advances in neurotechnologies raise worries about their encroachment upon the
human mind. Ligthart et al.'s (2022) analysis of extended reality (XR) technology in forensic
settings is one example of scholarship effectively enumerating “neurorights”(see also
Herrera-Ferr� et al. 2022; Ienca 2021). As Ligthart et al. note, Article 9 of the European
Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) protects a right to “freedom of thought,” Article 10 of
