Publisher Summary Present tests for evaluating antimicrobials are developed for evaluating
the efficacy of antimicrobials on suspended bacteria. Because biofilms have unique
characteristics and can be more resistant than suspended bacteria, new and more rigorous
test methods must be developed. This chapter uses the rotating disk reactor protocol with
sodium hypochlorite treatment as a model for developing a standard tier-one antibiofilm test.
