Jennifer Lopez locates relatives in Puerto Rico after hurricane

After a harrowing week-long struggle in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Jennifer Lopez was finally able to touch base with her relatives in Puerto Rico.

On Wednesday, Lopez, 48, posted a video of her uncle Tomás and aunt Adela, writing, “After a long 6 days we found the last of the family! Now the rebuilding begins!! #tiotomás #titiadela #familia #puertorico #unidosporpuertorico #LOVE #lovemakestheworldgoround #TioNegroImissyou.”

“I’ve never forgotten how good she’s been to us,” Tomás says in the clip.

Adela adds, “I remember her when she was a little girl, with so much love and warmth … I’m so moved that there are people on her behalf coming here and checking in. I have so many emotions but don’t know how to express them.”

Last week, J.Lo posted a video appealing for aid to Puerto Rico, which lost power island-wide after Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma, with experts estimating that the U.S. territory could be without electricity for four months.

“What’s on my mind is what’s going on in Puerto Rico. The devastation is beyond belief,” she said in the clip. “Me and my cousin still haven’t been able to hear from our families over there … Puerto Rico needs our help. I urge you to support and donate to the efforts of the first lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Areizaga. Together we can help rebuild our island and the Caribbean.”

Lopez put her money where her mouth is, donating $1 million to relief efforts for the island.
