‘La La Land’ oddsmaker favorite to win Oscar

La La Land” is a 1-6 favorite to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards, according to oddsmaker Danny Sheridan.

“If this were a horse race, it would be over before they got out of the gate!” Sheridan, who correctly picked 16 of the top 18 Oscars in the past three years, told me.

“Moonlight” at 5-1 is its closest rival. “Impressive filmmaking on a tough subject, but somewhat bleak — the opposite of a feel-good movie.”

“La La Land” helmer Damien Chazelle is 1-25 to win Best Director. Also shoo-ins are Emma Stone (Best Actress), Viola Davis (Best Supporting Actress) and Mahershala Ali (Best Supporting Actor).

The only close race is Best Actor, where Casey Affleck is even money to win for “Manchester by the Sea,” squeaking past Denzel Washington, who is 6-5 to win for “Fences.”

“Denzel is very well-liked in Hollywood, but he’s already won an Oscar and Casey Affleck hasn’t,” Sheridan said.
