Burt Reynolds isn’t holding back: He says Charlie Sheen deserves HIV.
The Daily Mail and other UK outlets have shared a clip of the 79-year-old actor saying that the “Two and a Half Men” star, 50, got what was coming to him, while appearing as a guest on Tuesday’s episode of the British talk show “Loose Women.”
“His father is a very, very decent man and a dear friend of mine, I feel bad for him,” he said. “But Charlie, I don’t feel bad for him. He’s getting what he deserves. If you’re going to misbehave like that, they’re going to get you.”
Reynolds reiterated his stance when asked if he felt any sympathy for the actor and the media scrutiny that has followed news of his diagnosis.
“For Charlie? No,” he said. “He deserved it. He misbehaved badly. Very badly. But you know when you’re that age, it’s tough, all those things are coming at you. It’s difficult.”
According to the paper, the studio audience was shocked at Reynolds’ comments.
Sheen, who is currently engaged in a legal battle with ex-fiancée Brett Rossi, revealed last month that he was HIV-positive during a live interview with the “Today” show’s Matt Lauer.
A representative for Reynolds has yet to reply to a request for comment.
