‘Imitation Game’ writer urges youth to ‘stay weird’

Who could have expected one of Oscar night’s best speeches to come from the adapted screenplay category?

Graham Moore took home the prize for his work on “The Imitation Game,” and after thanking Oprah Winfrey, who presented the award in a very Oprah-voice, Moore led into a heartfelt anecdote about his suicide attempt at 16.

“I felt weird and I felt different, and I felt like I did not belong,” he said. “And now I’m standing here.”

He encouraged young viewers with a simple catch phrase that immediately blew up on Twitter: “Stay weird, stay different.”
