Adele attends vigil for victims of deadly London blaze

Pop singer Adele attended a vigil Wednesday night near the scorched remains of the London high-rise where at least 17 people lost their lives.

The superstar was seen with her husband, Simon Konecki, while the 27-story building was still burning.

“Adele is such a wonderful person for going to Grenfell Tower. Shows that just because someone doesn’t tweet, doesn’t mean they don’t care,” @adelescackle tweeted.

Some social media users slammed the “Someone Like You” singer of showing up as a publicity stunt to boost her image.

But others defended her, including @nichoals_zara, who tweeted: “The fact Adele went to Grenfell Tower to try & help & didn’t make any fuss or court any publicity around it shows how down to earth she is.”

The Tottenham-born singer kept a low profile at the tragic site and was spotted by only a handful of fans as she comforted victims, the Mirror reported.

“The fact that Adele has gone to Grenfell tower and not said a word about it just proves how amazingly sincere she is… Adele is an angel, she deserves heaven, biggest heart ever, so proud of her,” @theonewithelly said on Twitter.

Dozens are feared dead in a tower block inferno — weeks after a $12.7 million refurbishment of the block that developers said was safe.

Residents at Grenfell Tower in North Kensington, West London, raised fears of fire risks, but said concerns fell on deaf ears.

It emerged that the blaze spread through external cladding fitted to thousands more UK buildings.

Survivors told how they fought through black smoke to escape via the central stairwell, which was “littered” with bodies.

It is believed virtually all the residents in the top three floors of Grenfell Tower in North Kensington, West London, perished in the devastating fire, which burned at over 1,800F.

The death toll stood at 12 last night but was expected to rise. A further 74 victims, 18 of them critical, are being treated at six hospitals.

Firefighters are removing bodies and said they do not expect to find anyone else alive – as desperate families search for their missing loved ones.
