19h agoA state grand jury has declined to file criminal charges in the fatal police-involved shooting in Newark that took place in May 2023.
Officials say police were responding to a double homicide on Johnson Avenue where 27-year-old Wyleek Shaw and 8-year-old Zahmire Lopez were found dead.
Everett Rand was seen leaving the house and dropped something into a nearby dumpster. A semi-automatic handgun was recovered, and a foot pursuit for Rand began.

Rand was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
