Nansha dragon boat competition returns after long hiatus

On June 10, the Nansha Dragon Boat Race will start at the section of Jiaomen River in Innovation Bay, marking the return of the event to Nansha district after 12 years.

The competition will start at 10 am on the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, featuring a variety of cultural performances, water shows, dragon dances, and more, showcasing the unique water-town charm of Lingnan with performances like saltwater songs, lion dances, street dances, and cheerleading, highlighting the water-town cultural characteristics of Nansha.

The event has garnered widespread attention, with a total of 32 dragon boat teams registering to participate, including teams from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, high school dragon boat teams, women's dragon boat teams, and expats' teams.

The participating teams will vie for the championship in the 22-person standard dragon boat and the 12-person dragon boat 300-meter straight-line sprint. Spectators are set to witness an exhilarating display of speed and passion in this aquatic competition.
