Former President Donald Trump's lead continues to grow after the first debate, as calls from some top Democratic donors and lawmakers increased for Biden to step aside and end his reelection bid.

President of RMG Research Scott Rasmussen joined National Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat Tuesday to discuss the issue.

“In terms of what Democratic voters want, we’re doing our first survey at RMG research on this right now. I took a sneak peek before coming on the air, and it turns out that Democratic voters, by and large, still think President Biden is up for the job,” he said. “They approve of what he's doing and they don't think that he should be stepping aside.”

Several top Democrats have called for the president to drop out of the 2024 presidential race after his inability to combat Trump during the first debate.

Democratic strategist David Axelrod, who was pivotal in former President Barrack Obama’s campaign, thinks this race won’t even be close if Biden stays in it in, he said in an interview with CNN.

“We’re not sure how this is going to play out in the coming weeks. The question of whether this leads him to stay in the race because the elites want him out, as he says, and the voters don't depends on how he does in the press conference and other actions in the coming weeks,” Rasmussen said.
