Everyday Ambassador
The strategies global leaders use to negotiate impasses and bridge divides may seem complicated. But when you break them down, they can turn out to be quite simple. From giving gifts to encouraging play to creating space for collaboration, Northwestern University law professor Annelise Riles shares surprising stories of how seemingly small gestures can bring about big change. Follow Everyday Ambassador to hear how you can use these tools to shape your community and your world. Everyday Ambassador is produced by FP Studios with support from the Humboldt Foundation.
Meet the host: Annelise Riles is a law professor and an anthropologist. She’s also a feminist, a mom, and a yoga dunce. Born in Peoria, Illinois, her work has taken her to places such as Suva Fiji, Beijing, Cambridge, the United Nations headquarters in New York, and Nagasaki. And she’s fascinated by what makes us different and also what we all have in common. As she puts it, “I believe in us. I think we can repair this broken world, learn to work across our differences, and create a safer and more peaceful world for all—and definitely think we should have fun while we’re at it.” She wants to learn from you and share what you know from research and life in global affairs because we need all the wisdom and all the leadership.
