5 Greatest Olympians Of All Time
With the Paris Olympics around the corner, athletes can begin dreaming about winning the gold medal for their respective country. However, as we know, there’s only a select few who’ve managed that feat, and there’s even fewer who’ve repeated it, so here are the five greatest Olympians ever. Jesse Owens overcame discrimination and prejudice to win four gold medals in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, and long jump at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Jamaica's Usain Bolt dominated the sprinting world for a decade and collected eight gold medals across three Olympic Games. Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina held the record for the most medals with 18 before Michael Phelps surpassed her tally in 2012. Carl Lewis replicated Owens’ feats at the 1984 Los Angeles Games before going on to win five more gold medals across the next three games. There is no doubt that Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time, amassing 28 medals across five Games, 23 of which were gold.
