US Heatwave Breaks Heat Record, Causing Deaths In West Coast
A persistent heatwave has shattered previous records across the US, with the West Coast experiencing dangerously high temperatures. Over the weekend, a motorcyclist in Death Valley died from heat exposure, with temperatures reaching 128°F at the national park. This extreme weather has prompted an excessive heat warning for 36 million people, or about 10% of the population. Northern California saw temperatures surpassing 110°F, with Redding hitting a record 119°F. In Death Valley, emergency medical helicopters were unable to respond due to the extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 120°F. In Arizona’s Maricopa County, at least 13 heat-related deaths have been confirmed this year. Residents and visitors are advised to stay hydrated, remain indoors, and check on vulnerable neighbors as the heatwave continues to grip the nation.
