Dear network members,

With 2017 already several months behind us, we are happy to share with you a summary on our activities and achievements of the past year.

Some of our 2017 highlights include the publication of the Frictionless Data specifications V1.0, the updated Global Open Data Index with our report on the State of Open Government Data, the improved OpenSpending platform to search, visualise, and analyse fiscal data in the public sphere and a successful School of Data Summer Camp in Tanzania. This year also saw a change in leadership for our organisation: we worked on strengthening our foundations so that we can ensure both continuity and stability of Open Knowledge International. In 2018, we look forward to seeing the outputs of our work being taken up by the data community, such as our recently published Frictionless Data Field Guide on creating an open data publishing toolkit or the upcoming release of the Fiscal Data Package. Another main focus for us this year is to strengthen our Open Knowledge Network, so that we can work better together in the future.
