It’s a TV miracle: Parks and Recreation is back!

Later tonight, the iconic NBC sitcom returns for an all-new episode in order to raise money for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund. Featuring all of the original characters from the series and a slew of guest stars from the Pawnee universe (fingers crossed for Jean-Ralphio!), the scripted, in-character special event will center on the events of the day as Leslie Knope attempts to stay connected to her friends during a time of social distancing.

“We were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money,” Parks and Rec co-creator Michael Schur said in a statement. “I sent a hopeful email to the cast, and they all got back to me within 45 minutes. Our old Parks and Rec team has put together one more 30-minute slice of (quarantined) Pawnee life, and we hope everyone enjoys it. And donates!”

WHAT TIME IS THE PARKS AND REC REUNION ON?

A Parks and Recreation Special airs tonight (April 30) from 8:30-9:00 p.m. ET on NBC. The Paley Center Salutes Parks and Recreation will precede the show, airing from 8:00-8:30 p.m. ET.

IS PARKS AND REC COMING BACK?

For now, it appears as if tonight’s episode will be a special one-time event.

“Never say never, but I felt like this was a moment in time and a cause we could rally behind,” Schur said, as reported by Deadline. “Parks and Rec had a specific subject to discuss and specific point to make.”

Continued Schur: “When it ended (in 2014) Amy (Poehler) and I talked and we felt like we made our point. We made our argument and got it. I don’t see the point in revamping the show just to do it; it was a true joy to make the show when we did it.”
