Run, HBO’s hottest new show of the spring, is almost here. Run stars Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson as a pair of star-crossed lovebirds who drop everything in their lives to reunite on a train, only to realize that picking up where you left off is, well, kind of impossible. Add in a couple of wild twists, high-stakes hijinks, and a story from Vicky Jones, the director of the original Fleabag stage show and a long-time Phoebe Waller-Bridge collaborator, and Run is the addictive rush of fun you need right now.
The set-up of HBO’s Run is deceptively simple. After over a decade not seeing each other, Billy Johnson (Domhnall Gleeson) texts his college ex Ruby (Merritt Wever) a single word, “RUN.” If she texts “RUN” back, they have agreed to meet in New York City on the first Chicago-bound train out of Grand Central Station. In the show’s opening scene, a frustrated Ruby makes the call to text back and hurry across the country to meet Billy. However, as soon as the lovelorn couple meets, it becomes clear that both are harboring secrets, and that neither is totally ready to face the real reasons they met on the train. Run also is co-produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the Emmy-winner shows up later in the season as a friendly taxidermist, and the show carries all of the wit, soul, and bare lust that made Fleabag such a sensation.

Run premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 12 at 10:36 PM ET, right after the Insecure Season 4 premiere ends. As soon as it starts, it will be available on HBO NOW, HBO GO, and the HBO add-on channel on Prime Video.
WHO IS IN THE RUN ON HBO CAST?
As we mentioned before, Run stars Emmy-winner Merritt Wever as Ruby Richardson, a California housewife bored with her mundane life, and Domhnall Gleeson as Billy Johnson, an internationally-known motivational speaker.
Other people in the Run cast include Archie Panjabi as Fiona, Billy’s assistant, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Laurel, a taxidermist, and Rich Sommer as Laurence, Ruby’s husband.

HOW IS RUN CONNECTED TO FLEABAG?
Run was created by Vicky Jones, a British writer and director known for her work with DryWrite, a theater group associated with SoHo Theatre in the UK. DryWrite is most famous for being the group that brought Fleabag to the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival years ago. Vicky Jones directed the original stage production of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-woman show Fleabag (which you can rent online today as a part of a charity push!).
Since Vicky Jones and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are close real-life friends and collaborators, Run boasts Waller-Bridge as a producer and a guest star.
