Who Was Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo in Narcos: Mexico?

Season 1 of Narcos: Mexico premiered all the way back in November of 2018. So if you need a bit of a refresher, we don’t blame you. The first two seasons of Narcos: Mexico revolve around the rise and fall of the drug lord Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo (Played by Diego Luna).

Félix Gallardo was originally an ex-cop who became the head of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s. He didn’t stop there. Félix Gallardo noticed that Mexico’s divided cartels allowed Colombian cartels to make more money, even though those same organizations relied on Mexico to ship their product to the United States. Félix Gallardo formed a coalition between the Guadalajara Cartel, the Juarez Cartel, the Sinaloa Cartel, and the Tijuana Cartel to correct that oversight. His plan worked and he and his partners started to make a lot of money. But it wasn’t long before this drug lord’s ego got the best of him.

After DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena (played by Michael Peña) infiltrated one of his operations, Félix Gallardo ordered for Camarena’s kidnapping, torture, and murder. Killing a U.S. agent put a target on his back that Félix Gallardo was never able to shake. While Season 1 of Narcos: Mexico chronicled his rise to power and feud with Kiki Camarena, Season 2 will show Félix Gallardo’s fall.
