New On Kanopy October 2019 [Exclusive]

Bust out that library card and get to streaming. Next month, streaming service Kanopy is releasing another packed line-up of Oscar winners, foreign language films, and documentaries perfect for your next movie night. But wait, it gets even better: Kanopy is completely free to stream with a library card or university affiliation. What are you waiting for?

In October, Ken Burns’ Country Music is heading to Kanopy. One of the biggest television events of the fall, Country Music follows the rise of country music in American culture from the early 1900s to present-day. Legends like Merle Haggard, Little Jimmy Dickens, Dolly Parton, and more sat down for in-depth interviews about their music careers, so no matter whether you prefer honky-tonk, swing, or modern country-rock, you should have no problem finding something to enjoy in the eight-part doc. Country music not your thing? Check out The Bostonians, a 1984 drama starring Vanessa Redgrave and Christopher Reeve. The 19th century period drama went on to receive Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations, so if you’ve been looking to fill out your Oscars checklist, this is the film for you.
