The Masked Singer is coming back into our lives this fall, which means you finally have something new to be baffled by and argue about. But this time Fox is doing things a bit differently. Instead of introducing us all to this season’s crazy characters during the premiere, this weekend the network is airing a sneak peek special about what’s to come.

There’s really nothing else in America quite like The Masked Singer. A group of celebrities don elaborate themed costumes to compete against each other in a singing competition. No one knows who’s underneath the masks, and each singer drops new clues for viewers. Each week a different performer is unmasked for… not singing well enough? Not being psyched enough? Not embracing their costume? Who knows. Much like Whose Line Is It Anyway?, everything is made up and the rules don’t matter.

And it’s a ton of fun. So what do you need to know before you meet this season’s crop of contestants?

Who was on The Masked Singer Season 1? Who Was Antonio Brown in The Masked Singer?

Season 1 of Fox’s insane singing competition featured celebrities from all over the professional map. Football players Antonio Brown and Terry Bradshaw; comedians Tommy Chong and Margaret Cho; actors Tori Spelling, Ricki Lake, and Rumer Willis; and musicians LaToya Jackson, Joey Fatone, Gladys Knight, Donny Osmond, and T-Pain all competed.

But out of all these contestants, Antonio Brown may have been the most familiar with celebrity reality shows. The former wide receiver starred in Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars. You can check out one of his dance performances here. Unfortunately Brown, aka The Hippo, didn’t last too long on The Masked Singer. He was the first unmasked contestant.

Who won The Masked Singer Season 1?

That honor and accompanying trophy goes to The Monster, aka T-Pain. The Monster battled hard against The Peacock (Donny Osmond) and The Bee (Gladys Knight). But at the end of the day it was T-Pain’s enthusiasm and adorable costume choice that pushed him to victory.

When is The Masked Singer Season 2’s premiere date?

You have a while to go before the official premiere of The Masked Singer Season 2. The universe’s favorite guessing game returns to Fox on Wednesday, September 25 at 8/7c.

What is The Masked Singer‘s sneak peek special?

Ready for more masked madness but can’t wait until the 25th? Then Fox has your back. Ahead of The Masked Singer‘s Season 2 premiere, the network is airing an hourlong preview this weekend.

The sneak peek special will be the first time we get to know this season’s new characters. And you better believe there will be clues. According to Craig Plestis, an executive producer of the show, it’s possible to figure out some of this season’s characters just from their pre-show clues. Not only that but T-Pain will be stopping by to talk more about his time as last season’s winner, The Monster, and fans will get a behind-the-scenes look into what goes into making those crazy costumes. It’s sure to be a ton of fun.

The hourlong special premieres on Fox Sunday, September 15 at 8/7c. Are you going to miss it live? No worries. New episodes of The Masked Singer are typically available on demand the day after they premiere.
