Connie Britton Signs First Look Deal With Amazon Studios

Grab a big glass of wine and belt out a country tune, because Connie Britton has signed a first look deal with Amazon Studios. As part of the deal, Britton will work with Amazon to develop TV series to premiere on the Prime Video platform.

“I’m honored to be joining Jen and the team at Amazon in creating provocative, thoughtful programming, utilizing their celebrated and exceptional storytelling platform,” Britton said via statement. “I know this will be an exciting and purposeful collaboration.”

“Connie Britton is a multi-talented actress who has captivated audiences with her portrayal of smart, complicated women,” added Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “Britton’s ability to create memorable characters and identify compelling stories makes her a perfect fit for Amazon Studios. We look forward to seeing what she creates for the global Amazon Prime Video audience.”

Though Britton is probably best known for her Emmy nominated performances on Friday Night Lights, Nashville, and American Horror Story, she also has appeared on Spin City24, and The West Wing.

Beyond Horror Story, Britton has a long-standing relationship with producer Ryan Murphy, having also starred in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson on FX, and 9-1-1 on FOX.

She’s also moved into working behind the camera as an executive producer for Bravo’s Dirty John, which she also starred in, based on the podcast of the same name. Britton got nominated for both a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Award for her work on that show.

Point being, Britton has put in the work, and she’s now at the level where she can call the shots. The deal potentially could involve acting work for Britton, dual roles like on Dirty John, or simply ushering new and exciting projects to the service. Whatever happens, you know we’ll be there, white wine in hand.
