‘Heroes’ Star Sendhil Ramamurthy Joins ‘The Flash’ as Villain Bloodwork

He may have been on the side of the good guys as Dr. Mohinder Suresh on Heroes and Heroes Reborn, but Sendhil Ramamurthy is about to break bad on the next season of The Flash, as revealed at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel.

Ramamurthy will join the cast for the upcoming sixth season in a recurring role as Dr. Ramsey Rosso. Described by Warner Bros. as a, “a brilliant physician with a genius intellect, and the world’s leading expert on hematological oncology,” he’ll be introduced as a former colleague of Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker). Things go south pretty quickly though, as Rosso does the typical mad scientist thing, breaking the laws of nature and transforming himself into a monstrous villain named Bloodwork.

Bloodwork is a relatively recent addition to the DC Comics canon, having first popped up in 2017’s “The Flash #29”. Created by writer Joshua Williamson and artists Pop Mhan and Christian Duce, Bloodwork — in the comics, at least — has the ability to transform his whole body into blood, as well as control blood in other beings. That means just by thinking about it, he can congeal your blood, make it burst into flames, and worse. It’s… Very gross.

It also marks yet another bummer of a potential relationship for Caitlin Snow, who has had a long string of reconnecting with colleagues, family members and boyfriends who eventually turn evil, die, or leave town forever. Not that Snow doesn’t have other things going on, including her Hulk-esque relationship with Killer Frost, the ice-powered anti-hero personality she shares a body with. But come on… Give that girl a break, huh?

In addition to Heroes, Ramamurthy has had recurring roles on New Amsterdam, Reverie, Covert Affairs and The Office. This, however, will mark the first time he has portrayed an enormous blood monster.

The Flash Season 6 premieres Tuesday, October 8 at 8/7c on The CW.
