Woman Crush Wednesday: All Hail Shay Mitchell, Queen Bee of Netflix’s ‘You’

It’s Wednesday once again, and that means it’s time for another wonderful Woman Crush Wednesday. This week, Decider is celebrating the true queen of all things thriller, Shay Mitchell.

WHO’S THAT GAL: Shay Mitchell

WHY WE’RE CRUSHING: We first fell in love with Mitchell when she starred as the always sweet Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars. It was practically impossible not to love her! But this time around the actress is playing a character who’s the total opposite of her PLL counterpart. Emily Fields is quaking in her boots. In the psychological thriller series You, Mitchell plays Peach Salinger (yes, heir of J.D. Salinger).

Let me start by saying that Peach is hella complex. While she might seem like a spoiled rich queen bee on the outside, she is actually SO much more, thanks to Mitchell. She knows all about manipulation and deceit, but at the same time, her adoration for her bestie, Beck, is unmatchable. She exudes confidence and class, all while sporting some of the most fashionable lewks we ever did see. Peach is also probably one of the smartest characters in the series since she always knew there was something a little fishy about You‘s villain, Joe. TBH, we wouldn’t mind having Peach on our side. Mitchell totally rocks this role just like we always knew she would and we can’t wait to see what else she’s got up her sleeve.

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HER BEFORE: You most likely recognize this lovely lady from her role on Pretty Little Liars. Mitchell starred as Emily Fields, the high school’s star swimmer and the Liars’ most loyal friend. Mitchell’s portrayal also made waves when Emily came out as a lesbian on the show. This year, Mitchell starred ex-cop Megan Reed in The Possession of Hannah Grace. And, of course, Mitchell can also be found playing queen bee Peach Salinger in the Netflix Original You.

WHERE YOU’LL SEE HER AGAIN: Right now she hasn’t publicly announced any upcoming projects, but we’re hoping to see more of her this year. For right now, you can binge-watch all of Pretty Little Liars and You on Netflix and honestly, we might do the same.
