I ran across an Oct. 1949 L.A. newspaper story about the 6 yr. old son of comedian, Parkyerkarkas, hospitalized with Polio. Stewart Robert Einstein, otherwise known as Bob Einstein, Super Dave. I’m glad it turned out OK back then. He left a lasting legacy of smiles.

i first remember seeing bob as superdave on Showtime. i laughed so hard that i almost peed myself, and that was when i was about 19. he had such great reactions and a knack for being so straight faced that it was a blast watching the reactions of the people he was dealing with. he will be missed for sure. one of the best comics in the world, and to think that he originally didnt want to go into show business!

Just showed my 5 and 8 year old a slew of vintage Super skits. Man, that was fun. They “get it” just like I did when I was watching him on Byner’s shows… So fantastic to see Bob on Curb then after all those years. I had not know it was in fact Super Dave until I looked him up. So wonderful to confirm. Finally, with Jerry in C and C, what a great way to highlight such a wonderfully funny and gentle man. .. Rest in peace and may your afterlife suit be made of pure genuine Saskachewan Sealskin… Condolences to the Super Einstein family. Know that especially my 5 year old boy, Kien, is thrilled to watch Dave now any time he can.

I grew up watching Super Dave, and cherish every skit and self destructive stunt that was perfect every time. The confident nature of Super Dave will always be a sweet memory in my 43 year old mind. Thank you, Mr. Einstein !

Bob Einstein was truly an inspiration to us all. His career in comedy lasted for over half a century, during that time, he created some of the most memorable and funniest characters of all time. From Super Dave Osborne and the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour to Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development. Bob provided nothing but sheer entertainment to us all. He will be sorely missed. May he Rest In Peace..,

I was at Sebring in March 2019 for the famous endurance race and spray-painted onto the concrete barrier at Turn 10 (a funky place to be sure) were the words: “Super Dave’s Bar & Grill.” Wish I could post a pic. The man is gone, the legend lives on…

Bob defined the difference between being a mere comedian and a comedic genius. He was sui generis: brilliant, unique, hysterically funny.

Nothing is better than his Funkhouser character on Curb. Loved him even more as a guest on 2 episodes of Sienfeld’s Comedians in Cars. When he passed, I searched for more of his earlier work on YouTube but sadly there aren’t a lot so those of you who have had the opportunity to have seen him in the 60s and 70s, you are indeed lucky. He and his humor will be missed! RIP.

I thought his character, SD, was a wonderful creation. He seemed to be a guy that would be
a joy to invite over for dinner with my family.

“Super Dave Osborne” was the best. After all these years, watching SD skits again, they are just as funny as the first time I watched them. RIP Mr. Einstein.

I was fortunate enough to meet this man many years ago it only to find that he was (is) as regular and down-to-earth of a guy than anyone you would meet. I sadly just found out about his passing recently I don’t know how that missed me. But what a wonderful wonderful man he was !! His career spans many decades of working constantly, constantly, constantly, and probably with illnesses. When most young people can’t even hold a job more than one week. This man is of a breed and an era that is fading away faster and faster. His surviving family, loved ones and fans can rest assure that he is reunited with his father he lost back in 1958 at such a young age, Mr.Harry Einstein left too soon, and so did Bob ! I Can’t stop watching the 2 comedian in cars episodes we’re he looks healthy happy and enjoying himself, I watch it often, now only to realize he must have been sick and in some form of discomfort while filming those episodes, but it didn’t stop him one bit from bringing joy and laughter one more time to the world. And thanks so much to… Read more »

I’m 28 and from England, so I’m only aware of Bob from Curb. His larger than life character and humour shines through so clearly. Every scene he is in is perfect and hilarious. A great man. Enjoy your onward journey, Bob. All the best to your family and friends.

My condolences for your loss to both family and friends. There were few funnier or quicker than Bob and a light is missing in this world.
Here’s hoping that someone produces a documentary on this brilliant comedian to share with future generations.

First of all I want to say to the moderators and of the site if they are still on as well as his family: I apologize for your loss. One of my deepest regrets was never sending him any kind of message or comment before it happened. I first saw him on the Super Dave Osborne Show when I was 3 years old. It was in the mid 90s, long after the show had been cancelled and I was mostly watching reruns. At the time like many kids, I thought the stunts Super Dave did, the ones that went spectacularly wrong, were real. But when I grew up and found out otherwise, I wasn’t disappointed. If anything the dummy work and the effects made it all the more funnier and the fact that you guys probably spent thousands, maybe millions of dollars on elaborate sets, only for them to be destroyed as part of the humour, gave the comedy more heart. Even to this day I couldn’t stop watching the stunts without laughing to tears. That was his gift to the world. And to the man himself wherever he is. Mr. Einstein, Super Dave no one will forget about you… Read more »

The Einstein Family
My condolences for your loss.. what a funny funny man bob was. I am too young for super Dave and the smothers brothers etc.but his time on Curb was priceless… sooo funny. As Larry David said truly a shock. I was really looking forward to seeing him in season 10 but as Larry said he was too sick to film season 10. I have gone back to the curb episodes w Marty in it and just laughed and laughed… in memory of bob, whenever I am in the Curb mood will watch one with him in it. RIP Bob.. gone way too soon and yes still shocked he is gone.

Some of my favorite memories with my Dad in the 80s was watching Super Dave and laughing our heads off. I only wish my Dad could have seen Bob play Marty Funkhouser on Curb. He would have loved it.Thank you Bob for all the years of laughs. My heart goes out to Albert and the rest of the Einstein family. May your memories bring you comfort and peace.
