Severe mental illness and cardioprotective medication
Patients with severe mental illness die 10–20 years earlier than the general population, and have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. Despite this, they may experience lower cardioprotective medication prescribing. This qualitative study explores the barriers GPs face to optimal prescribing for patients with severe mental illnesses, from under-funding and workforce shortages, to continuity of care challenges.

Peripheral artery disease

This online survey study explores the everyday practice of GPs in England and Ireland regarding diagnosis and management of peripheral arterial disease.
Follow-up cancer care
The increasing number of patients surviving cancer due to improved cancer treatment underscores an increase in demand for follow-up cancer care in general practice. This questionnaire study in Denmark found fewer than one-third of general practices sampled had organised follow-up care, with GPs reporting insufficient competences in addressing physical sequelae and sexual challenges.

By identifying diverse strategies, it provides a valuable resource for enhancing continuity and informing future research and policy.
