How can I access Amazon Prime Day? Is it only for Prime members?

Yes, Prime Day is only for Amazon Prime members. Amazon Prime in Australia costs A$9.99 per month, or A$79 per year, and also comes with a free 30-day trial (you can sign up here). Why does Amazon run Prime Day?

Prime Day was started in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday, and as its digital answer to America’s infamous Black Friday sales. The concept is clearly working for Amazon – Prime Day has grown every year since, and last year saw the sale of over 100 million products. It’s also tapping into the trend for consumers to wait for good deals online before making a purchase. A recent Harris poll found almost 80% of Australians will wait for discounts on big purchases. And this consumer behaviour also impacts local sellers on the Amazon platform.
